Eclipse website redesign (Phoenix)
According to the Project Phoenix plan, today is the day we pick a brand new look for the Eclipse website. What a grandiose affair! After having the same look since August 2001, we'll start fitting new content to a new look. We only have three templates to choose from, but they are great designs. Big thanks to Roger, Stavros, Andrew and Linda for the effort they put in to their templates.
I receive mail on a regular basis claiming numerous problems with our site (sometimes even insults!), and I read about the Eclipse website horrors that our community posts on various blogs, so I was litterally expecting dozens of design templates to pour in. Perhaps we didn't do a good job of advertising the fact we were looking for templates.
Well it's not over yet, because I don't think we'll be picking a template until early next week.
Cast your vote on the template you like best, or better yet, submit your own! (Bugzilla account required - free - while supplies last.)

Keep up with the vote tallies, in this exciting themes deathmatch!
hmm imho the basic problem about this contest were the rather strict rules. I thought about designing a template, but after I read the guidelines I was convinced you´re looking for your old page in a different dress. And that´s just not good enough for me - it doesn´t really adress the logical or structural issues which I think eclipse.org has.

We hired an Information Architect who did some great work in redegining the structure and layout of the information (we know it's a mess). You can read all about it on the Phoenix newsgroup archive or the mailing list archive.

What he wasn't hired to do was a skin, that's where you come in. We're not just going to skin the old info, we'll rework the entire site.
Hey, Nice Blog!
Makes some very interesting reading.
Please be sure to check out my site here - Mininova - for some great bit torrent downloads.
