Website usability testing at EclipseCon

Lynn and I will be conducting a Website usability test at EclipseCon this year.  Because I (and most of the people I work with) know our website quite well, the goal is to find out how folks use our website so we can make improvements to the structure and content.  So, for instance, if you can't figure out how to download the PDT, then our site is broken.

If you want to help out, just be at EclipseCon and we'll take care of the rest.

Eclipse.org gets a new face (again)

If you haven't visited www.eclipse.org recently, now would be a great time to do so.  After gathering some feedback on our recent simplistic design, I think we've come up with a great new homepage that balances simplicity for newcomers and information for our regular audience.

Nathan, our web designer extraordinaire, has also designed a new skin for the rest of the site, so expect to see less and less Purple as everyone migrates their pages to the new look.

Karl and I will be at EclipseCON

Karl and I will both be at EclipseCON this year, representing the Eclipse Webmasters. Karl will be there for most of the systems support (download mirror, registration system, badges, etc) and I'll be there for Phoenix (Eclipse website), infrastructure and Babel talks and BoFs.

EclipseCON is always a fun time, and I always attend as many technical sessions I can.  The depth of Eclipse knowledge at that conference is simply amazing, and I always discover new and cool stuff related to Eclipse. Plus, meeting up with old friends, and making new ones, is infinitely cool.

Thankfully, Matt will be staying here in freezing cold Ottawa to make sure all the servers work, and to take care of everyone who unfortunately can't make it out to California.

See you there!
